Whether this is a dead cat bounce or a true second life remains to be seen, but Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Run Away With Me” has recently been regaining traction at pop radio.
According to Mediabase, Jepsen’s critically acclaimed tune received 232 plays over the first three days of the September 20-26 tracking week. The count tops that of last week (38 spins) by a whopping 510.5%.
“Run Away With Me” was the Mediabase pop panel’s #50 song during the first three days of the current tracking week. It was #87 last week.
“Run Away With Me,” which first impacted radio this summer, failed to reach the Top 40 during its initial run up the chart (it peaked at the #50 position). After the song lost spins during the August 23-29 week, Interscope pulled “Run Away With Me” from its official pop radio promotions playbook.
Interscope has yet to confirm plans for a renewed push. Based on the aforementioned airplay gain, it is nonetheless clear that some radio programmers are demonstrating a renewed sense of enthusiasm for the “E-MO-TION” single.
