Selena Gomez’ “Good For You” Will Stay #1 at Pop Radio; “Same Old Love” Rising

Last week, “Good For You (featuring A$AP Rocky)” became the second Selena Gomez song to top Mediabase’s pop radio airplay chart.

This week, it will become the first Gomez song to spend a second week at #1.

“Good For You” received 10,527 plays during the first four days of the September 13-19 tracking week. That count, which bests last week’s mark by 1.8%, keeps “Good For You” comfortably positioned at the top of Mediabase’s building airplay chart.

Without an imminent threat (Major Lazer’s building #2 “Lean On” is fading, while Demi Lovato’s #3 “Cool For The Summer” has no chance of closing the gap to #1), “Good For You” will surely retain its #1 position over the tracking week’s final three days.

Upon doing so, it will become the first Gomez single to achieve a multi-week reign on the Mediabase pop chart. Her 2013 single “Come & Get It” spent only one week at #1.

— When this week’s chart goes to print, “Good For You” may not be the only Gomez song with a Top 40 position. Follow-up single “Same Old Love” stands a very good chance of landing within that region.

The song, which received 735 spins over the first four days of the September 13-19 tracking week, is currently #40 on Mediabase’s building chart. While it will likely be overtaken by Ellie Goulding’s new “On My Mind,” Gomez’ second “Revival” single will, at the very least, leapfrog Jason Derulo’s rapidly declining #39 “Cheyenne.”

It should further benefit from Skrillex & Diplo’s “Where Are U Now (with Justin Bieber)” going recurrent and thus being dropped from this week’s active airplay chart.

As long as radio continues to play “Same Old Love” at its existing pace — let alone an improved one — “Same Old Love” should reach this week’s Top 40.
