Taylor Swift’s “1989 World Tour” resumed Saturday night, and so too did the singer-songwriter’s practice of inviting special guest musicians onto the stage.
Saturday’s show, which emanated from Petco Park in San Diego, featured appearances by OMI and Avril Lavigne.
OMI and Swift predictably collaborated on his “Cheerleader.” The song holds the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and is expected to top the publication’s Song of the Summer chart.
Lavigne later joined Swift for a rendition of “Complicated.” Notable in any circumstance, the appearance was particularly newsworthy in light of a recent social media controversy.
Earlier this week, a “Swiftie” shared photo collages comparing Taylor Swift’s level of fan interaction to that of Avril Lavigne, Katy Perry, Kanye West, and Britney Spears. Swift comes across as warm and fan-friendly in her photos; the other celebrities appear cold and distant.
Swift apparently “liked” the Tumblr post, which prompted a social media beef between the related fanbases — and ultimately a response from Avril Lavigne (who noted “we all love our fans”).
