Update: According to Nielsen Music’s final data, Carly Rae Jepsen’s “E-MO-TION” sold 16,153 copies during its inaugural week of release. That mark slots the album at #14 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart.

The modest total is nothing about which to write home, but it does top that initially projected by industry analysts.
According to Hits Daily Double, Carly Rae Jepsen’s “E-MO-TION” sold approximately 15,815 traditional copies during its first week of release (August 21-27).
Billboard’s final data — due by Monday or Tuesday — will differ slightly, but it should still confirm a total above the industry’s initial 12-14,000 forecast.
With Track Equivalent Albums (10 single sales = 1 album equivalent unit) and Streaming Equivalent Albums (1500 single streams = 1 album equivalent unit) included, Hits estimates that “E-MO-TION” generated a first-week consumption total of approximately 18,182 total units.
That should be enough to position the album within the Top 25 — and likely the Top 20 — on the consumption-oriented Billboard 200.
Carly Rae Jepsen’s previous album “KISS” debuted at #6 on the then-sales-only Billboard 200. It sold 46,000 copies during its inaugural September 2012 sales week.
