Taylor Swift’s “1989” Reportedly Crosses 8 Million Worldwide Sales

A video package that aired during this spring’s Academy of Country Music Awards ceremony claimed that Taylor Swift’s “1989” had generated over 7 million worldwide sales.

If one were to create such a video package today, he would have to put a different number in front of the word “million.”

Per estimated global data, the worldwide sales total for Swift’s “1989” now exceeds 8 million.

Mediatraffic, which reports worldwide totals based on a combination of actual and approximated sales from international markets, said “1989” had sold 8.006 million global copies at the conclusion of the August 14-20 tracking week.

Just over 5.16 million of the album’s 8 million copies were sold in the United States.

“1989,” which launched in late October 2014, has already produced four hit singles in “Shake It Off,” “Blank Space,” “Style,” and “Bad Blood.” The campaign for fifth single “Wildest Dreams” is now underway.
