Ratings: “Fear The Walking Dead” Sets Premiere Record, Trails Recent “TWD” Episodes

Episodic viewership for the fifth season of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” ranged from 12.27 million viewers to 17.29 million viewers.

As a summer companion/spin-off series, “Fear The Walking Dead” had no prayer of drawing a similar viewership tally.

The premiere episode, indeed, did not. It did, however, draw a very impressive sum.

Sunday’s 90-minute “Fear The Walking Dead” drew a 4.9 adults 18-49 rating with 10.1 million viewers. It was the highest-rated and most-watched cable series premiere in history.

While viewership may decline in the coming weeks and thus further distance the show from its mothership’s dominance, “Fear The Walking Dead” will certainly remain a cable ratings powerhouse.

Confident in its ability to perform, AMC ordered a second season in advance of this weekend’s series premiere.
