Its positioning against The Weeknd’s “Beauty Behind The Madness” realistically takes a #1 debut off the table.
Halsey’s “Badlands” will, nonetheless, make a splash from a sales standpoint.
Signposted by its prominent chart visibility on iTunes, “Badlands” has amassed a healthy number of preorder sales ahead of its August 28 release. Per a Hits Daily Double report, the current total is nearly 40,000.
That preorder count will only grow as August 28 approaches.
While the demographics (and passion) of Halsey’s fanbase and the nature of her marketplace positioning suggest “Badlands” will generate an atypically high percentage of sales during the preorder phase, it will still sell copies during the actual August 28-September 3 sales week.
And insofar as the preorder mark is already impressive, the album’s official debut week total – which combines preorder and release week purchases – is sure to be substantial.
Halsey’s full-length debut, “Badlands” features popular tracks in “Ghost,” “Hurricane,” “Hold Me Down,” and “New Americana.” The lattermost song is currently a Top 25 (and rising) entry on the alternative radio airplay chart.
