Ratings: HBO’s “Show Me a Hero” Flops; “Ballers,” “The Brink” Hold Up

When it comes to live+same-day viewership, HBO’s “Show Me a Hero” got off to a terrible start.

The first two parts of the miniseries, which occupied the 8-9:50PM timeslot Sunday, drew a paltry 0.15 adults 18-49 rating with only 443,000 viewers. The show was obviously not going to be a ratings hero — or fill the ratings void created by the conclusion of “True Detective” — but this week’s performance undoubtedly trails expectations.

Leading out of the low-rated broadcast, HBO’s “Ballers” drew a 0.77 adults 18-49 rating with 1.569 million viewers. While down from last week’s performance (0.87, 1.713 million), the performance was within the show’s usual range. Considering all previous episodes featured lead-in support from “True Detective,” this week’s performance is definitely worthy of a smile.

“The Brink” (0.40, 0.935 million viewers vs. 0.39, 0.892 million) and “Last Week Tonight” (0.45, 1.010 million vs. 0.38, 0.929 million) also aired.
