Michael Ray’s Album Debuted With 11.3K First Week Sales

Powered by its chart-topping lead single “Kiss You in the Morning,” Michael Ray’s self-titled debut album posted the country genre’s fourth-greatest sales total during the August 7-13 tracking week.

According to Nielsen Music, the album shifted 11,294 copies during its inaugural week of release. That tally places it beneath only Luke Bryan’s #1 “Kill The Lights,” Sam Hunt’s #2 “Montevallo” and Jason Isbell’s #3 “Something More Than Free” on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart.

The album’s opening week sales total falls within the same ballpark as that of Canaan Smith’s “Bronco.” That album, which featured a country radio chart-topper of its own in “Love You Like That,” moved 12,033 pure copies during the June 22-28 tracking week.

“Kiss You in the Morning” reached #1 on last week’s Mediabase and Billboard country airplay charts. It has gone as high as #10 on the all-encompassing (sales, streams, airplay) Hot Country Songs chart.
