Little Mix’s “Black Magic” Set to Reach Top 30 at Pop Radio

When Little Mix takes the stage at Sunday’s Teen Choice Awards, its single “Black Magic” will almost certainly be positioned within the Top 30 on Mediabase’s official pop radio airplay chart.

According to Mediabase, “Black Magic” received 1,264 pop plays during the first four days of the official August 9-15 tracking period. That spin total positions “Black Magic” at #30 on Mediabase’s building chart.

While it holds only a narrow lead over Afrojack’s “SUMMERTHING! (featuring Mike Taylor)” (1,257 plays, #31 on the building chart) and could be overtaken by Hailee Steinfeld’s soaring “Love Myself” (1,171 plays, #32 on the buliding chart), its anticipated Top 30 status is not presently in jeopardy.

Before the week concludes, “Black Magic” is expected to leapfrog Sam Smith’s declining “Like I Can” (1,320 plays, #29). Its position will further improve as active songs go recurrent (and are thus removed from the chart).

#32 on this week’s Mediabase pop airplay chart, “Black Magic” already ranks as Little Mix’s second-highest-charting US pop effort. Only “Wings,” which peaked at #24, reached a higher mark.

Sunday’s TCA performance kicks off a week of TV press for the girl group. Little Mix will subsequently appear on the August 17 “Late Late Show with James Corden” and August 19 TODAY Show.
