While “The Strain” has been on a live+same-day ratings nosedive (this past Sunday’s episode hit series lows in adults 18-49 and total viewership), FX remains supportive of its drama.
That support resulted in a third season renewal.
The network made the announcement as part of the Television Critics Association press tour.
“Guillermo and Carlton have delivered two thrilling seasons of The Strain that are captivating and visually arresting, doing justice to the original novel trilogy and meeting fans’ high expectations in the process,” said FX’s Eric Schrier. “We’re excited to see them carry this powerful story into a third season on FX.”
The third season will air next summer.
— In addition to confirming the “The Strain” renewal, FX also provided an update regarding the next season of “Archer.”
After spending its first six seasons on FX, the animated comedy will move to FXX for its upcoming seventh season. It will launch in 2016 as a companion for new animated comedy “Cassius and Clay.”
