Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song” Earns #1 at Hot AC Radio; Ed Sheeran Goes Top 5

Last week, Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song” surged to #2 on Mediabase’s hot adult contemporary radio airplay chart.

This week, it dethrones Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” and seizes the #1 position.

“Fight Song,” which is the first chart-topper of Platten’s career, received ~7,166 spins during the July 26-August 1 tracking week. Up 361 from last week’s total, the count gave “Fight Song” a 398 spin lead over Swift’s “Bad Blood.”

That song, which spent three weeks at #1 on the Hot AC airplay chart, slips to #2 on the strength of its ~6,768 tracking week spins (-110).

Selected as the format’s iHeartRadio “On the Verge” song this spring, “Fight Song” is the first such track to reach #1 on the Hot AC airplay chart.

Walk The Moon’s “Shut Up and Dance” (#3, +1 | ~5,986, -96), Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again (featuring Charlie Puth)” (#4, -1 | ~5,983, -292) and Ed Sheeran’s “Photograph” (#5, +2 | ~5,502, +599) join “Fight Song” and “Bad Blood” in the Top 5. “Photograph” is making its inaugural appearance in that portion of the chart.

— In addition to reaching #1 at Hot AC radio, “Fight Song” rises four places to #7 at adult contemporary radio and one place to #10 at pop radio.
