Demi Lovato’s “Cool for the Summer” Scores Solidly with Pop Radio Listeners

Callout data confirms that Demi Lovato’s “Cool for the Summer” is thus far receiving a warm overall reception from pop radio listeners.

According to the latest edition of the Mediabase/CMM national callout report, “Cool for the Summer” holds a net positive score of 41.8%.

The latest report features data on 32 active pop radio singles; “Cool for the Summer” boasts the fourth-greatest net positive score. Only Ed Sheeran’s “Photograph” (52.1%), Shawn Mendes’ “Stitches” (50.8%) and Charlie Puth’s “Marvin Gaye (featuring Meghan Trainor)” (43.5%) possess stronger net positive reactions.

The 41.8% net positive score comes courtesy a positive reaction from 60.9% of surveyed listeners and a negative reaction from 19.1%. The positive score ranks at a modest #15 on the list of 32 pop singles, but the negative score is the format’s 4th-lowest (or 29th-greatest).

Because the song’s familiarity level is only 66.5%, the aforementioned marks could be subject to change – potentially of the negative variety – as more listeners get to know the song in the coming weeks. By the same token, the low familiarity level also places a bottleneck on the song’s “favorite” score.

Identified as a “favorite” by 17.4% of those surveyed, “Cool” holds the #23 position for that metric.
