Jason Aldean’s “Tonight Looks Good on You” Reaches #1 at Country Radio; Michael Ray Top 5

Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush” enjoyed a massive week-over-week airplay gain, but it was unable to best Jason Aldean’s “Tonight Looks Good on You” for #1 on this week’s Mediabase country radio singles chart.

After serving as the runner-up to both Blake Shelton’s “Sangria” and Canaan Smith’s “Love You Like That,” Aldean’s tune finally reaches #1 on the chart.

“Tonight Looks Good on You” is the third single from Aldean’s “Old Boots, New Dirt.” Previous cuts “Burnin’ it Down” and “Just Gettin’ Started” also reached #1.

Not simply the week’s leader in Mediabase chart points, “Tonight” also received the greatest number of weekly spins and audience impressions. It garnered ~8,330 spins and ~56.964 million audience impressions during the July 12-18 tracking week.

The aforementioned “Girl Crush,” which rises two places to #2, earned ~8,012 weekly plays and ~52.577 million audience impressions. Its airplay total bests last week’s by a whopping 1,285 plays. No other country song enjoyed a gain of that significance.

Brantley Gilbert’s “One Hell of an Amen” posted the week’s next-greatest airplay gain. Up two places to #3, “Amen” received ~7,399 weekly plays (+897).

Smith’s “Love You Like That” (#4, -3) and Michael Ray’s “Kiss You in the Morning” (#5, +1) complete the Top 5. Ray’s song, which received ~6,685 weekly plays (+605) makes its inaugural Top 5 appearance.
