Demi Lovato’s “Cool for the Summer” Reaches Hot AC’s Top 40; Major Lazer Also Enters

Pop radio’s #20 song is now a member of the Top 40 at hot adult contemporary radio.

Demi Lovato’s “Cool for the Summer,” which enters the Top 20 courtesy pop radio’s greatest weekly airplay gain, also enjoys a sizable lift at hot adult contemporary.

Spun 502 times during the July 5-11 tracking week, “Summer” rises twenty places to #36 on Mediabase’s official Hot AC chart.

Its weekly spin total bests last week’s mark by a healthy 378. It is the format’s sixth-greatest gainer.

Also new to Hot AC’s Top 40 is Major Lazer’s “Lean On (featuring MØ and DJ Snake).” Up three places, the song earns #39 on the strength of its 377 tracking week spins (+41).

While not new to the Top 40, David Guetta’s “Hey Mama (featuring Nicki Minaj, Bebe Rexha and Afrojack)” re-enters that portion of the chart this week. Despite suffering a slight airplay decrease, “Hey Mama” rises one position to #40 on the chart (368 spins, -2).
