Meek Mill’s “Dreams Worth More Than Money” Wins 11-Day Sales Race (Updated)

Update: Based on activity during the extended June 29-July 9 tracking period, Meek Mill’s “Dreams Worth More Than Money” claims #1 on a second edition of the Billboard 200.

The extended week allows Billboard to transition from the previous Monday-Sunday tracking week to a new Friday-Thursday tracking week. The latest edition of the Billboard 200 thus includes data from the album’s first week — June 29-July 5 — and the four days that followed.

The first week data also informed the previous Billboard 200.

According to Nielsen Music, the album’s second #1 stint comes courtesy the 289,000 album equivalent units it moved during the June 29-July 9 tracking period. 42,000 of those were generated during the July 6-9 window.

Album equivalent units are either pure sales (1 sale = 1 unit), Track Equivalent Albums (10 single sales = 1 unit) or Streaming Equivalent Albums (1500 single streams = 1 unit).

The Top 10 of the latest Billboard 200 follows.

1) Meek Mill – Dreams Worth More Than Money – 289K total unit
2) Taylor Swift – 1989 – 70K total units
3) Miguel – Wildheart – 60K total units
4) Ed Sheeran – x – 58K total units
5) Sam Hunt – 44K total units
6) James Taylor – Before This World – 40K total units
7) Breaking Benjamin – Dark Before Dawn – 39K total units
8) Magic Mike XXL – 39K total units
9) X Ambassadors – VHS – 37K total units
10) Maroon 5 – V – 36K total units

To account for the shift to Friday as a global album release date, Billboard and Nielsen are revising the sales tracking week. Instead of measuring sales from Monday through Sunday, the charts will now account for purchases between Friday and Thursday.

In order to bridge the gap between the two tracking weeks, the next set of Billboard charts will account for sales activity from the eleven-day period between June 29 and July 9. The first seven of those days also informed the previous set of charts, which recognized Meek Mill’s “Dreams Worth More Than Money” as the #1 album and Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again (featuring Charlie Puth)” as the #1 song.

The next album sales charts will also feature “Dreams Worth More Than Money” at the top.

According to Hits Daily Double, “Dreams” moved approximately 251,364 complete copies during the June 29-July 9 tracking period. Easily the period’s best number (albeit one that will differ slightly from what Billboard reports), that will earn the album a second stint at #1 on Billboard Top Album Sales.

While Meek Mill’s first week sales figure counts toward two Billboard charts, it will not be double-counted in the album’s cumulative sales calculation.

With Track Equivalent Albums (10 single sales = 1 album sale) and Streaming Equivalent Albums (1500 single streams = 1 album sale) included, “Dreams Worth More Than Money” boasts an eleven-day consumption total of approximately 304,110 album equivalent units. That will assuredly earn the album a second stint at #1 on the Billboard 200.

The June 29-July 9 tracking period’s other top performers, from a pure sales standpoint: Miguel’s “Wildheart” (~50,140 sales), James Taylor’s “Before this World” (~42,925), Taylor Swift’s “1989” (~41,283) and Breaking Benjamin’s “Dark Before Dawn” (~38,848).

The June 29-July 9 tracking period’s other top performers, from a consumption standpoint: Taylor Swift’s “1989” (~72,283**), Miguel’s “Wildheart” (~60,916), Ed Sheeran’s “x” (~58,219), Sam Hunt’s “Montevallo” (~44,669).

**Note: In recent weeks, Billboard’s final “1989” consumption data has differed greatly from that reported by Hits Daily Double. While the potential disparity should not jeopardize the album’s #2 position on the Billboard 200, readers are advised to take Hits’ actual number with a grain of salt.
