Demi Lovato’s “Cool for the Summer” Ranks as Hot AC Radio’s Most Added

Demi Lovato’s “Cool for the Summer” is thus far receiving a warm reception from hot adult contemporary programmers.

The track, which emerged on July 1, received adds from 16 Mediabase-monitored stations. That count earns “Cool for the Summer” the Hot AC format’s most added distinction this week.

Released on Lovato and Nick Jonas’ new Safehouse Records label, “Cool for the Summer” debuted at #56 on Sunday’s official Mediabase Hot AC airplay chart. By Monday, it was already up to #46 on the rolling airplay chart.

Already a Top 30 hit on the airplay chart, Charlie Puth’s “Marvin Gaye (featuring Meghan Trainor)” registers as the week’s second-most added tune. It received 15 monitored Hot AC adds.

Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness’ “Cecilia and the Satellite,” which has the backing of the iHeartRadio “On the Verge” program, follows as third-most added. It scored 11 weekly pickups.

The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face” claims fourth-most added on the strength of its 9 adds, while Imagine Dragons’ “Shots” and Meghan Trainor’s “Like I’m Gonna Lose You (featuring John Legend)” tie for fifth-most added. Each song scored 8 weekly adds.

Other notable Hot AC options: Nick Fradiani’s “Beautiful Life” (7 adds, 7th-most added, tie), OMI’s “Cheerleader” (7 adds, 7th-most added, tie), Selena Gomez’ “Good For You (featuring A$AP Rocky)” (6 adds, 9th-most added), Third Eye Blind’s “Everything is Easy” (5 adds, 10th-most added, tie), X Ambassadors’ “Renegades” (5 adds, 10th-most added, tie).
