Ratings: HBO’s “Ballers” Slips After Slightly Weakened “True Detective”

Airing out of a slightly deflated “True Detective,” the second episode of HBO’s “Ballers” endured hits of 19% in adults 18-49 and 15% in viewership.

Sunday’s “Ballers” posted a 0.89 adults 18-49 rating with 1.846 million total viewers. Last week’s episode, which launched the series, drew a 1.10 rating with 2.162 million.

The aforementioned “True Detective” posted a 1.33 adults 18-49 rating with 3.048 million viewers this week. Last week’s season premiere was good for 1.42 with 3.172 million.

While a drop is a drop, the modest decline is not particularly alarming — most dramas tend to slip from their season premieres.

— Leading out of “Ballers,” “The Brink” drew a 0.55 adults 18-49 rating with 1.263 million viewers. Last Sunday’s episode posted a 0.66 with 1.598 million viewers.

— “Last Week Tonight” closed HBO’s Sunday night with a 0.49 rating and 1.241 million viewers. The previous week’s episode scored a 0.55 with 1.365 million.
