Taylor Swift’s “1989” Rises to #2 on Top Album Sales; “Bad Blood” Holds #2 on Hot 100

While several new releases entered the market during the June 1-7 tracking week, only one generated more sales activity than Taylor Swift’s “1989.”

Florence + The Machine’s “How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful,” that album, won the weekly sales race with what Nielsen Music reports as 127.9K weekly sales.

A stronger seller than all other releases – new or old – “1989” rose to #2 on the weekly Top Album Sales chart (+3). According to Nielsen Music, it shifted another 33.8K copies during the aforementioned tracking week.

Certified 5x platinum based on confirmed US shipments, “1989” now boasts a cumulative sales total of 4.898 million.

With Track Equivalent Album Data (10 single sales = 1 album sale) included, “1989” generated a weekly consumption total of approximately 66,000. That allows the album to retain its #2 position on the Billboard 200.

On the subject of number two, current single “Bad Blood” holds that spot on the weekly Billboard Hot 100. It, meanwhile, retains #1 on Digital Songs (213,000 weekly sales), holds #4 on Streaming Songs (11.4 million) and rises to #5 on Radio Songs (78 million).
