Update: According to final broadcast data, Thursday’s “Aquarius” premiere averaged a 1.1 adults 18-49 rating with 5.67 million total viewers in its 9-11PM timeslot.
The new NBC series was the timeslot’s most-watched network program. Among adults 18-49, it was network television’s #2 show at 9PM and #1 broadcast at 10PM.
Despite faring better competitively at 10PM, the two-hour “Aquarius” broadcast actually lost viewers as it progressed.
Per the earlier, fast national ratings report, “Aquarius” drew a 1.1 rating with 6.13 million viewers from 9-10PM and a 1.0 with 5.25 million viewers from 10-11PM.
========================
The most-watched network program in the 9-11PM timeslot and the highest-rated network program in the latter hour, NBC’s “Aquarius” premiere fared well from a competitive standpoint.
In an objective sense, its adults 18-49 performance was nonetheless of the modest variety.
Thursday’s “Aquarius” launch drew a 1.1 adults 18-49 rating with 6.13 million viewers in the 9-10PM hour and a 1.0 adults 18-49 rating with 5.25 million viewers in the 10-11PM timeslot.
Visible on an hourly basis, the viewership bleed is even more notable at the half-hour level. “Aquarius” started with a 1.2 rating from 9-9:30PM but had fallen to a 0.9 by the closing 10:30-11PM half hour.
Modest at face value, the adults 18-49 marks benefited from a competitive atmosphere deflated by the emergence of summer. “Aquarius” ranked second among network programs in the 9PM hour (behind FOX’s “Wayward Pines”) and first in the 10PM hour.
As noted, it claimed the highest viewership total during both hours.
NBC led into “Aquarius” with “Dateline” (1.2, 6.39 million).
