Mariah Carey’s “#1 to Infinity” Debuts with 15K First Week Sales

Industry analysts expected Mariah Carey’s “#1 to Infinity” to debut with a modest first week sales total.

Industry analysts got it right.

According to Nielsen Music, Carey’s latest compilation album shifted 15,183 copies during the May 18-24 tracking week. It was the week’s ninth-best-selling new release (and 20th-best-seller overall).

Carey’s debut release for Epic, the “#1 to Infinity” compilation includes Carey’s 18 number one hits and new single “Infinity.” Thus far, the new single has gone as high as #82 on the Billboard Hot 100.

2008’s “The Ballads,” which was Carey’s last themed compilation album, moved 29,000 copies in its first week of release. 2014’s “Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse,” which was her last studio release of any kind, debuted with 58,000 sales.
