The formal radio push for Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” does not begin until this coming week, but the single has already amassed enough hot adult contemporary support to reach the format’s Top 50.
According to Mediabase’s preliminary/unofficial Sunday chart, “Bad Blood” was Hot AC’s 47th-most played song during the May 10-16 tracking week. It received 279 tracking week spins, which bests last week’s count by a whopping 251.
At this time last week, it was #91 on the Hot AC airplay chart.
The Hot AC stations currently supporting “Bad Blood” are playing the original, album version. The rumored remix, which may or may not even be pushed to the Hot AC format, has not yet been made available for airplay (or even been officially confirmed by Swift).
Slated to open Sunday’s Billboard Music Awards, the song’s celebrity-heavy music video will officially commence the “Bad Blood” campaign. While Republic has twice removed references to the song from its radio promotions page, “Bad Blood” is expected to imminently impact the pop, hot adult contemporary and rhythmic radio formats.
The follow-up to “Style,” “Bad Blood” is the fourth single from Swift’s “1989.”
