Ratings: “Scandal” Finale Wins Night; “Grey’s Anatomy” Also Up Slightly (Updated)

Update: According to final broadcast data, Thursday’s season four “Scandal” finale drew a 2.3 adults 18-49 rating with 8.08 million viewers. While it was the lowest-rated and least-watched “Scandal” finale since the season one conclusion, it bested last week’s episode in both measures. The 5/7 “Scandal” drew a 2.2 with 7.44 million total viewers.

“Scandal” also ranked as Thursday’s top network program in adults 18-49. It trailed the two NBA Playoff games as Thursday’s third-highest-rated program on all of television.

ABC’s other programs included the season finales of “Grey’s Anatomy” (2.2 with 8.33 million vs. a 2.1 with 7.74 million last week) and “American Crime” (1.0 with 4.21 million versus a 1.0 with 4.17 million last week).

All three shows will be back next season.

While its numbers did not rival those routinely posted in the first half of the season, Thursday’s season four “Scandal” finale benefited from slight week-over-week improvement.

It also ranked as the night’s top program in the adults 18-49 demographic.

Per fast national data, Thursday’s “Scandal” drew a 2.3 adults 18-49 rating with 8.12 million total viewers. Both numbers best those of last week’s broadcast, which drew a 2.2 with 7.44 million.

While “Scandal” won the night in the key young adults demographic, fellow ABC “Grey’s Anatomy,” at least based on preliminary data, reached a larger total audience. The season finale of “Grey’s” drew a 2.2 adults 18-49 rating with 8.25 million viewers.

Last week’s “Grey’s” delivered a 2.1 rating with 7.74 million total viewers.

The season finale of “American Crime” closed ABC’s night with 1.0 adults 18-49 rating and 4.31 million viewers. Last week’s penultimate season one broadcast scored a 1.0 with 4.17 million.
