Britney Spears & Iggy Azalea’s “Pretty Girls” starts at #23 on Mediabase’s pop radio airplay chart.
“Pretty Girls,” which was not officially available until the second day of the May 3-9 tracking week, commanded approximately ~2,990 weekly spins. Hourly first day airplay from iHeartMedia stations contributed immensely to that total, but the track did hold up well as the week progressed.
“Pretty Girls” is now one place shy of the #22 peak achieved by Spears’ previous chart entry “Perfume.” It has already outpeaked “Trouble (featuring Jennifer Hudson),” which was Azalea’s previous launch at pop.
As another point of recent comparison, Jason Derulo’s “Want to Want Me” and Zedd’s “I Want You to Know (featuring Selena Gomez),” which both received the same opening day support from iHeartMedia, also scored #23 debuts on the Mediabase pop chart. Those songs, however, commanded more weekly spins. “Want to Want Me” earned 3,672 plays during its inaugural tracking week, while “I Want You to Know” was good for 3,287.
Expected to sell in the neighborhood of 100,000 first-week copies, “Pretty Girls” is on pace to debut inside the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100.
