Walk the Moon’s “Shut Up and Dance” Becomes Hot AC Radio’s Most Played Song

Walk the Moon’s breakthrough hit “Shut Up and Dance” is about to officially seize the throne at a second radio format.

The crossover smash, which previously topped the alternative airplay chart, is now the most played song at hot adult contemporary radio. If it can retain its lead through Sunday–and it surely will–“Shut Up and Dance” will officially claim #1 on Mediabase’s Hot AC airplay chart.

The song’s rolling lead comes courtesy the 6,795 spins it received between May 2 and May 8. Ellie Goulding’s “Love Me Like You Do,” which previously held the format’s highest play count, received 6,740 spins within that window.

Currently #5 on the overall Billboard Hot 100, “Shut Up and Dance” is currently up to #6 on the rolling Mediabase pop airplay chart, up to #10 on the rolling Mediabase adult contemporary chart and still #6 on the rolling Mediabase alternative chart.
