Update: While this week’s “Reign” drew a slightly larger audience than the previous week’s telecast, the performance was nothing about which to celebrate.
Thursday’s edition of The CW’s sophomore drama posted a 0.3 adults 18-49 rating with 0.84 million viewers. The former number was even with last week’s mark, while the latter was narrowly ahead of that episode’s 0.82 million.
If one were inclined to credit “Reign,” he would focus on the fact that the episode held up despite receiving weaker lead-in support from “The Vampire Diaries.” Thursday’s “TVD,” which was the worst-performing episode ever, scored a 0.5 adults 18-49 rating with 1.21 million viewers.
Last week’s “Diaries” was good for a 0.6 with 1.37 million.

Leading out of what currently stands as the worst-performing “The Vampire Diaries” of all time, Thursday’s “Reign” failed to achieve a notable ratings uptick.
Per fast national data, this week’s “Reign” drew a 0.3 adults 18-49 rating with 0.85 million viewers.
Last week’s episode, which was the least-watched “Reign” on record, drew the same 0.3 adults 18-49 rating but only 0.82 million total viewers, according to final broadcast data. In the corresponding fast nationals, it drew a 0.3 rating with 0.84 million viewers.
This week’s “The Vampire Diaries,” meanwhile, fell in both columns. Fast national data says it drew a 0.5 adults 18-49 rating with 1.22 million viewers.
If those numbers hold, they will be the worst ever for “TVD.” Last week’s show drew a 0.6 with 1.37 million.
Despite the string of soft performances, both “The Vampire Diaries” and “Reign” are renewed for next season.
