Lee Brice’s “Drinking Class” Reaches #1 at Country Radio; Tyler Farr Hits Top 5

His previous single “I Don’t Dance” just won the ACM Award for Single Record of the Year.

Lee Brice’s current single “Drinking Class” is now the #1 song at country radio.

Thanks to a late week surge, “Drinking Class” bests Dierks Bentley’s “Say You Do” for number one on this week’s Mediabase country singles chart. It was #3 last week.

While it trails the Bentley tune in weekly audience impressions (~59.897 million vs. ~60.748 million), “Drinking Class” bests “Say You Do” in weekly Mediabase chart points. Spun ~7,794 times during the tracking week, it also received more airplay than “Say You Do.”

The Bentley song, which holds at #2 on this week’s Mediabase listing, received ~7,615 plays during the April 19-25 tracking week.

Despite losing this week’s Mediabase race, “Say You Do” has a strong chance of claiming #1 on the corresponding Billboard Country Airplay chart. Its status on that listing will be revealed Monday night.

As far as Mediabase goes, Keith Urban’s “Raise ‘Em Up (featuring Eric Church)” (#3), Tyler Farr’s “A Guy Walks Into a Bar” (#4) and Sam Hunt’s “Take Your Time” (#5) round out the top five. The Farr song, which was #6 on last week’s chart, makes its first top five appearance this week.
