Taylor Swift’s “1989” Crosses the 7 Million Worldwide Sales Mark, Per ACM Awards Show

A video package that aired during Sunday’s Academy of Country Music Awards confirms that Taylor Swift’s “1989” has achieved another sales milestone.

The blockbuster album, which possesses a cumulative US sales total of nearly 4.7 million, apparently boasts a worldwide total in excess of 7 million.

The impressive achievement was very much expected.

Going into the current tracking week, the MediaTraffic website, which combines official and estimated worldwide data to produce global sales figures, said “1989” boasted a sales total of 6.958 million.

Insofar as it has been selling comfortably more than 42,000 worldwide copies per week, it looked like a lock to cross the 7 million sales mark this week.

The next MediaTraffic estimate will be issued Friday, but insofar as the inevitable feat was officially confirmed during the ACM video package, it can be viewed as confirmed. Taylor Swift’s “1989” is now a member of the 7 million club.
