Ellie Goulding’s “Love Me Like You Do” Grabs #1 at Pop; The Weeknd Earns Top 5

Ellie Goulding’s “50 Shades of Grey” smash “Love Me Like You Do” is officially the number one song at pop radio.

Up one place from last week’s position, the song dethrones Maroon 5’s “Sugar” to claim #1 on this week’s edition of the Mediabase pop airplay chart.

The song’s chart-topping position is owed to the ~18,382 spins it received during the April 12-18 tracking week. “Sugar,” which spent the past two weeks at #1, slips to #2 on the strength of its ~17,624 weekly spins.

“Love Me Like You Do” is Goulding’s second #1 hit on US pop radio. The artist previously topped the Mediabase pop chart with “Lights.”

And it is not the only “50 Shades of Grey” single to claim an impressive position on this week’s chart.

Thanks to the week’s second greatest airplay gain, “Earned It,” which is The Weeknd’s “50 Shades” single, rises two places to a new peak of #5 on this week’s chart. It earned ~13,762 spins during the April 12-18 tracking week.

Also in the top five: Natalie La Rose’s #3 “Somebody (featuring Jeremih)” (~15,044, +1,404) and Taylor Swift’s #4 “Style” (~14,804, -2138).
