Ellie Goulding’s “Love Me Like You Do” Becomes Pop’s Most Played Song

After a two week stint in the #1 spot, Maroon 5’s “Sugar” is about to cede its pop radio throne.

Set to claim #1 on this week’s official edition of the Mediabase pop airplay chart is Ellie Goulding’s “Love Me Like You Do.” It was #2 on last week’s chart.

While the achievement will not become official until the final weekly airplay chart emerges Sunday evening, Goulding’s “50 Shades of Grey” single already ranks as the format’s most played song.

“Love Me Like You Do” received 17,969 spins during the seven days between April 10 and April 16. “Sugar” received 17,765 within that same window.

Upon securing the #1 spot, “Love Me” will become Goulding’s second pop radio chart-topper. She previously reached the format’s apex with “Lights.”

— This weekend’s official pop airplay chart will feature two “50 Shades of Grey” singles in the Top 5. The Weeknd’s “Earned It” will grab the #5 position.
