While it did not open as a Drake-sized–or even J. Cole-sized–blockbuster, Kendrick Lamar’s “To Pimp a Butterfly” has performed well from a sales standpoint.
As of the tracking week ending April 12, it boasts a cumulative sales total in excess of 500,000.
According to Nielsen Music, “Butterfly” moved an additional 28,806 copies during the week between April 6-12.
Down sharply from the 53,456 moved during the previous tracking week, the weekly tally nonetheless thrust the album’s cumulative total past 500,000.
Through four weeks of availability, “To Pimp a Butterfly” has moved a total of 513,216 complete copies.
“To Pimp a Butterfly” is the follow-up to Lamar’s “good kid, m.A.A.d. city.” To date, that album has sold approximately 1.4 million pure copies.
