Kelly Clarkson’s “Heartbeat Song” Crosses the 500,000 Sales Mark

Performances at the iHeartRadio Awards and on “American Idol” powered Kelly Clarkson’s “Heartbeat Song” to a 95% week-over-week sales gain during the tracking week ending April 5.

68,821, the resulting weekly sales count, thrusts the lead “Piece by Piece” single past the 500,000 mark.

According to Nielsen Music, the cumulative digital sales total for “Heartbeat Song” stood at 527,170 when the most recent tracking week came to a close.

“Heartbeat Song” accounted for 90% of this week’s “Piece by Piece” track sales figure and 95% of the week-over-week gain.

Responsible for 41,112 track sales last week, “Piece by Piece” is credited with 76,475 this week.

While “Piece by Piece” suffered a week-over-week decline in streaming activity (2.33 million US streams vs. 1.91 million), it enjoyed a lift in pure album sales (11,697 vs. 8,631). That gain, too, can be at least partially attributed to Clarkson’s television exposure.
