Maroon 5’s “Sugar” Crosses the 2 Million Sales Mark

The reigning leader at pop radio is now a member of the 2 million sales club.

Maroon 5’s “Sugar,” that song, shifted just shy of 147,000 paid downloads during the week ending April 5. According to Nielsen, that weekly total brings the song’s cumulative sales count just north of 2 million.

“Sugar” is the second straight Maroon 5 single to achieve that feat. Predecessor “Animals” currently boasts a cumulative US sales total of 2.18 million.

“Maps,” which led off the “V” project, should get there in the coming months. Still selling approximately 10,000 copies per week, “Maps” possesses a cumulative total of 1.92 million.

Currently #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, “Sugar” holds the #1 positions on the Mediabase pop airplay and Billboard Pop Songs chart. It should reach #1 on the next editions of the Mediabase hot adult contemporary and Billboard Adult Pop charts.
