Ryn Weaver’s buzzworthy “OctaHate” represents the lone addition to the top 40 of this week’s Mediabase pop radio airplay chart.
After reaching #42 last week, the critically acclaimed “OctaHate” rises to #40 on this week’s edition of the listing. The song, which serves as the lead single from Weaver’s forthcoming debut album “The Fool,” received 1,245 spins during the March 29-April 4 tracking week.
Developed with an all-star team that includes Benny Blanco, Charli XCX and Michael Angelakos, “OctaHate” set the music blogosphere ablaze upon arrival last summer. Interscope’s promotions team nonetheless look a methodical approach to the song’s roll-out.
The music video arrived in October, Weaver performed the song on “Late Show with David Letterman” this January and the track formally went for mainstream radio adds in late February.
As of April 5, the song is officially a top 40 hit at pop radio. Focus will now shift to the song’s ability to retain–and improve–its position in the coming weeks and months.
