Maroon 5’s “Sugar” Officially Claims #1 at Pop, The Weeknd’s “Earned It” Hits Top 10

Pop radio has a sweet new number one song.

Maroon 5’s “Sugar,” which spent much of the week as pop’s most played song, seizes the throne on this week’s official Mediabase pop airplay chart.

Its number one position is attributable to the 18,388 spins it received during the March 29-April 4 tracking week.

Taylor Swift’s “Style,” which spent the past three weeks in the #1 position, slips to #2 with 17,790 weekly spins. Ellie Goulding’s “Love Me Like You Do” (16,599), Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” (14,151) and Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk (featuring Bruno Mars)” (14,094) close out the weekly top five.

“Sugar” is Maroon 5’s second straight pop radio #1. Predecessor “Animals” also reached the top of the chart.

Other top ten moves this week:

— Natalie La Rose’s “Somebody (featuring Jeremih)” reaches a new peak of #6 (11,595 spins).

— Ariana Grande’s “One Last Time” reaches a new high of #8 (10,065 spins).

— The Weeknd’s “Earned It” reaches the top ten this week. Again pop’s greatest airplay gainer, it rises four places to a new peak of #9 (9,372 spins).
