Ratings: iHeartRadio Music Awards Show Holds in Demo, Slips in Viewership

The Sunday move did not prove to be gamechanging for NBC’s iHeartRadio Music Awards ceremony, which performed similarly to last year’s Thursday night broadcast.

Per fast national ratings data, Sunday’s iHeart Awards show averaged a 1.7 adults 18-49 rating with 5.22 million viewers across the 8-11PM timeslot.

Per final ratings data, last year’s inaugural edition, which aired on Thursday, May 1, drew a 1.7 with 5.48 million viewers. Promising enough to earn the show a second year, the inaugural ceremony’s performance was not considered impressive.

This Sunday’s edition fared best in the 9PM hour. That hour, which faced the first two-thirds of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” finale, drew a 1.8 with 5.55 million viewers.

The iHeart show meanwhile scored a 1.6 with 5.26 million viewers from 8-9PM and a 1.7 with 4.86 million viewers from 10-11.

Despite the show’s modest performance, its 1.7 demo rating did earn NBC first place among broadcast networks during the 8-11PM slot.
