Ratings: The CW’s “iZombie” Debuts Respectably Out of “The Flash” (Update)

Update: The CW’s “iZombie” indeed got off to a respectable start, but a pair of adjustments in the final ratings report makes the premiere performance look less solid.

The new series actually opened with a 0.8 rating with 2.29 million viewers (rather than what the fast nationals reported as a 0.9 with 2.34 million).

Its retention rate was also weaker than first reported. Per final data, its “The Flash” lead-in drew a 1.3 rating with 3.69 million viewers (rather than what the fast nationals reported as a 1.2 with 3.55 million viewers).

The adjustments take away luster from the performance, but if “iZombie” can hold at least fairly steady in the coming weeks, it will still be considered a successful launch.
=================

Far stronger than those of “Jane the Virgin” but notably weaker than those of “The Flash,” the premiere ratings for The CW’s “iZombie” can best be described as solid.

Leading out of the aforementioned “The Flash,” “iZombie” drew a respectable 0.9 adults 18-49 rating with 2.34 million viewers. It posted a 0.8 in the adults 18-34 demo that arguably represents a truer priority for The CW.

“The Flash” delivered a 1.2 in adults 18-49, a 1.1 in adults 18-34 and reached 3.55 million total viewers.

As a point of comparison, the “iZombie” series premiere performance narrowly trailed the fall 2014 season premiere performance of previous timeslot occupant “Supernatural.” That episode, which drew a 1.1 with 2.50 million viewers, received considerably stronger lead-in support from “The Flash” (1.9, 4.83 million).
