That NBC’s “The Voice” has become far bigger than FOX’s “American Idol” is hardly a secret.
But FOX’s received a particularly harsh dose of that reality this week.
According to fast national ratings data, the competitive hour of NBC’s “The Voice: Best of the Blinds” special tied the “American Idol” Top 8 guys performance show in adults 18-49. It nearly did so in total viewership.
Both broadcasts posted 2.1 adults 18-49 ratings. “Idol” drew 8.75 million viewers from 8-9PM, while “The Voice” averaged 8.59 million in that timeslot.
The second hour of Tuesday’s “The Voice,” which aired from 9-10PM, held steady at a 2.1 rating but drew 8.30 million viewers.
Despite the “Idol” decline, lead-out “Empire” managed to hit yet another series high.
