The status of Madonna’s “Living for Love” has once again undergone a dramatic change.
Two weeks ago, the pop icon’s single appeared dead on arrival. “Living for Love” commanded a mere fifteen adds from the Mediabase pop panel, and it was barely receiving any airplay.
Things suddenly improved on Valentine’s Day, when the song received more than 200 pop spins. That sudden wave of enthusiasm lasted for the entire week, and it jettisoned “Living for Love” into the Top 40 on the official Mediabase and Billboard pop airplay charts.
The outlook for the song has once again turned bleak. While “Living for Love” did fare well on the weekly add board (presumably due to pickups it received during last week’s surge), its airplay has been steadily vanishing.
The track commanded a mere 858 spins during the week between February 20 and 26. Down 413 from last week’s count, the total positions “Living for Love” at #40 on the rolling airplay chart. Unless its fortunes are again reversed, Madonna’s song will fall out of the Top 40 by Saturday’s rolling chart.
