“Uptown Funk,” “Thinking Out Loud” Lead at Pop, Hot AC Radio

Whether one is looking at Mediabase’s pop or hot adult contemporary airplay chart, he will find Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk (featuring Bruno Mars)” and Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” in the top two positions.

The only difference comes from the position the songs hold on each chart.

At pop, the weekly leader is once again “Uptown Funk.” The blockbuster track, which also leads the all-encompassing Hot 100, tops pop on the strength of the 18,208 spins it received during the February 8-14 tracking period. While that count represents a slight decline from last week’s record-setting spin total of 18,220, it is still enough to give “Uptown Funk” a dominant victory at pop radio.

With 16,512 weekly spins, “Thinking Out Loud” holds the #2 spot at pop.

The positions are reversed at Hot AC radio. There, “Thinking Out Loud” leads with 6,715 spins. “Uptown Funk” holds #2 courtesy its weekly play count of 6,475.

The bigger overall hit, “Uptown Funk” also holds the number spot at rhythmic radio. The song repeats at #1 thanks to its 6,047 weekly spins. Sheeran’s tune is #19 on that chart (1,999 spins).

“Thinking,” meanwhile, holds the better position at adult contemporary. It is #6 (1,882 spins) while “Uptown Funk” is #16 (567).
