After several weeks of stability in the adults 18-49 demographic, “Glee” last week tumbled to a series low in the coveted demographic. While the March 20 series finale is coming regardless of how “Glee” performs, the descent into such scary ratings territory was certainly not something anyone planned to ignore.
The question, however, was whether it could become something to forget. There was no chance this Friday’s “Transitioning” episode was going to vault into impressive ratings territory, but if it could enjoy a slight rebound, it would be able to ease the sting of last week’s 0.5 adults 18-49 rating and 1.58 million viewership average.
It did enjoy a slight rebound. Per fast national data, Friday’s “Glee” scored a 0.6 adults 18-49 rating with 1.85 million viewers.
The performance is certainly nothing to celebrate. The adults 18-49 rating is the second-lowest of the season, and the 1.85 million viewership average is even with the near-series low drawn by the January 30 “The Hurt Locker, Part Two” episode. The two episodes are tied for the series’ third-least-watched episodes ever.
But “Glee” fans can at least celebrate the show moving away from–rather than towards–the 0.0 rating drawn by show-within-a-show “That’s So Rachel.”
