Ratings: FOX’s “Backstrom” Rises 20%, NBC’s “Allegiance” Falls 36%

Update: While the final broadcast report was not as flattering, it still reveals a big week-over-week increase for “Backstrom.”

The new FOX drama ended up posting a 1.2 adults 18-49 rating with 4.39 million viewers and thus bested last week’s 1.0 with 3.64 million.

Lead-in “American Idol” drew a 2.3 with 9.62 million viewers.

— NBC’s “Allegiance” drew a 0.7 with 3.65 million.

Thursday’s ratings report brought mixed results for two of the night’s freshmen comedies.

The news was positive for FOX’s “Backstrom.” The series, which receives solid lead-in support from “American Idol” but airs in an unenviable timeslot with “Scandal” and “The Blacklist,” enjoyed a 30% week-over-week gain in adults 18-49.

Seemingly gaining some of the viewers who left “The Blacklist”, “Backstrom” posted an improved 1.3 adults 18-49 rating with 4.4 million viewers, per fast national data. Last week’s episode scored a 1.0 with 3.64 million in the finals.

NBC’s “Allegiance” received less stellar news. After premiering with a low 1.1 and 4.98 million viewers last week, this week’s episode crashed to a 0.7 with 3.61 million viewers.

The future does not look bright for NBC’s “Allegiance.”
