Ratings: MTV’s “Eye Candy” Rises to Series High in Week Four

While the “Eye Candy” premiere episode’s adults 18-49 rating and viewership total were unquestionably low, one would not have been ridiculed for blaming the performance on competition from the NCAA college football championship.

The subsequent two episodes unfortunately served to unravel that case. Episode two settled for only slightly elevated viewership, while episode three drew fewer viewers than the premiere without the excuse of intense football competition.

At this point, it is clear MTV does not have a blockbuster in “Eye Candy.” The series is not, however, unable to bring good news in the daily ratings report.

Monday’s edition of “Eye Candy” drew a series high 0.3 adults 18-49 rating (up from the 0.2 delivered by each of the previous three installments). Viewership clocked in at 604,000. While not a series high, the mark does exceed the 521,000 viewership mark posted by the previous episode.

The gain neither transforms “Eye Candy” into a hit nor removes concern about its future on MTV. It does, however, represent a welcome response to last week’s sizable viewership decline.
