Luke Bryan’s “I See You” Eyes #1 Spot at Country Radio

Given country radio’s tendency to rapidly move away from songs once they reach the top of the airplay chart, Eric Church’s reigning #1 “Talladega” has held up extremely well.

Despite that impressive week-over-week retention, “Talladega” is still poised to cede its throne to Luke Bryan’s “I See You.”

While the country radio landscape will not become official until Mediabase issues its weekly, published airplay chart Sunday evening, “I See You” claims the #1 position on Saturday’s rolling chart. Since it is rising and “Talladega” is falling (however slowly), the Bryan track should be able to retain its #1 position through Sunday’s update.

From a pure airplay standpoint, “Talladega” remains country radio’s top song. Eric Church’s single commanded 7,812 spins between January 24 and 30, while Luke Bryan’s “I See You” received only 7,803.

The points driven Mediabase system (which assigns points to the spins received within each market) nonetheless lists “I See You” as the leader.

No single from Luke Bryan’s “Crash My Party” has failed to reach #1 on the Mediabase country airplay chart.
