(Who is) Fancy’s “Goodbye” Officially Impacts Pop Radio on February 17

Update: Who is Fancy’s “Goodbye” is now scheduled to formally impact pop radio on February 17.

Several major market stations, including New York’s Z100 and San Francisco’s 99-7 Now, are nonetheless already playing the song.

As part of its strategic launch campaign, the Republic promotions team is presently keeping the identity of Fancy under wraps. He has thus far only been identified as a Scott Borchetta/Scooter Braun discovery and is actually being promoted at radio, on Vevo/YouTube and on digital music stores with the question “Who is Fancy.”

All indications, however, suggest that Fancy represents a moniker for singer-songwriter Jake Hagood.

That did not take long.

Sunday night, Big Machine Label Group head Scott Borchetta shared a song many passionate music fans and journalists had already discovered: “Goodbye” by an unknown artist named Fancy (reportedly a moniker for singer-songwriter Jake Hagood).

Monday morning, Republic’s radio promotions team confirmed that the track formally impacts radio on February 10.

The impact date comes on the heels of news that some stations, including San Francisco’s 99-7 Now, are already spinning the track.

Billed by Republic as a “Scooter Braun/Scott Borchetta signing,” Fancy was first identified as a promising singer-songwriter in Billboard’s September iHeartRadio festival coverage. Borchetta and company reportedly envisioned the artist breaking through in 2015.

Per Republic and radio stations that are already supporting the song, it appears the artist will be billed as “Who is Fancy.” The goal will be to generate intrigue in the artist behind the catchy pop effort.
