RaeLynn’s “Me” EP Debuts at #7 with 6K Sales

When it comes to RaeLynn, there is something about the #7.

Late last year, the singer-songwriter’s breakthrough single “God Made Girls” reached as high as #7 on Billboard’s all-encompassing Hot Country Songs chart.

This week, RaeLynn’s five-song “Me” EP debuts at #7 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums listing.

The release, which features the aforementioned “God Made Girls,” grabs the spot on the strength of its 6,000 first week sales (Update: Billboard, which first reported the 6,000 total, has since posted a conflicting story that claims a first-week sales count of 5,000).

Looking beyond country, “Me” lands at #43 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart and #49 on the “total consumption” (sales, tracks and streams) Billboard 200 chart.

While not enough to instantly establish RaeLynn as a commercial force, the number holds up well in comparative context.

Last August, Sam Hunt’s “X2C” EP debuted at #5 on the country album sales chart and #36 on the overall listing with sales of 8,000. His follow-up LP “Montevallo” then debuted with an impressive 70,000 first-week sales in late October/early November.

When Maddie & Tae’s self-titled EP debuted this November, the duo’s “Girl in a Country Song” was already in the top ten at country radio (and thus bigger than RaeLynn’s “God Made Girls” and Hunt’s breakthrough “Leave the Night On” were when their EPs arrived), but the four-song set’s opening week sales count fell in the (approximate) neighborhood of 3,000. It debuted at #28 on Top Country Albums and #164 on the overall Billboard 200.
