Fall Out Boy’s “American Beauty/American Psycho” Leads Sales Chart

Early indications suggest Fall Out Boy’s “American Beauty/American Psycho” could sell nearly 200,000 copies in its first week. At least half of that total was reportedly achieved in the pre-order phase.

Given that reality, the new album naturally holds the #1 spot on the iTunes album sales chart.

While it did not immediately rocket to #1 — Taylor Swift’s “1989” held the top spot when the album dropped at midnight — it made the ascent early Tuesday.

And the iTunes lead reflects only one facet of its weekly sales leadership. If it indeed lives up to the aforementioned sales forecast, “American Beauty/American Psycho” should have no trouble winning the overall sales race.

Swift’s “1989” currently holds the #2 spot, while Joey Bada$$’ “B4.DA.$$” is #3. Meghan Trainor’s “Title,” last week’s winner, follows at #4.

Also making waves on iTunes: The Decemberists’ “What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World” (#5), Marilyn Manson’s “The Pale Emperor” (#6), Above & Beyond’s “We Are All We Need” (#7), Lupe Fiasco’s “Tetsuo & Youth” (#8), Nicki Minaj’s “The Pinkprint” (#9) and Ed Sheeran’s “x” (#10).
