Early enthusiasm from programmers is allowing two buzzworthy tracks to climb pop radio airplay chart.
Sheppard’s “Geronimo” and Nicki Minaj’s “Truffle Butter (featuring Drake and Lil Wayne),” the two songs, appear within the top 50 of Mediabase’s latest rolling chart.
The former, which formally updates the format in February (updated impact date), registers at #49 on Monday’s rolling chart. It commanded 324 spins during the week between January 12 and 18.
While “Geronimo” has moved fairly slowly at alternative (it is currently the format’s 40th-most-played song), it has commanded decent interest at hot adult contemporary. Thanks to the 1,386 Hot AC spins the song received during the aforementioned tracking week, it grabs the #22 spot on Monday’s rolling chart.
Minaj’s “Truffle Butter,” meanwhile, claims #50 on the rolling pop chart. The song has not yet even been formally declared a pop single, but it claimed 318 weekly pop spins between January 12 and 18. And insofar as many those spins came from high-profile stations, the song ranks even more favorably for audience. Its weekly impression count of 2.34 million was the pop format’s 42nd-largest.
The song is an even bigger deal at the urban and rhythmic radio formats, where it presently ranks as #23 and #24, respectively.
