The recipient of promotional airplay on day one — and the recipient of adds from at least thirty four monitored Mediabase stations — Kelly Clarkson’s “Heartbeat Song” got off to a hot start at the hot adult contemporary radio format.
Clarkson’s new tune, which launches the campaign for album “Piece by Piece,” commanded 454 first-day spins from members of Mediabase’s Hot AC panel. That allowed it to debut at #30 on Tuesday’s rolling airplay chart, which measures the entire week between January 6 and 12.
Insofar as its spins came in high-profile markets, “Heartbeat Song” ranks even more favorable from an audience standpoint. Its opening audience impression count of 4.80 million was Hot AC’s 27th-largest for the entire seven day tracking period.
— While not yet in the top fifty at the pop radio format, “Heartbeat Song” is nearing the top 40 at adult contemporary. It appears at #44 on Tuesday’s rolling AC chart courtesy its 35 first day spins.
— As of press time, “Heartbeat Song” was flirting with the top ten of iTunes’ all-genre single sales chart.
