Ratings: ABC’s “Galavant” Falls 35% Against the Golden Globes

By losing viewers from the beginning to end of last week’s premiere, ABC’s “Galavant” signposted the fact that it would suffer a ratings decline in week two.

That its two second week episodes faced heavy competition from NBC’s Golden Globe Awards and CBS’ football-boosted programming block rendered that decline a certainty.

Sure enough, the musical comedy did take a dip in week two. After averaging a 2.0 adults 18-49 rating with 7.42 million viewers across its first two episodes, “Galavant” averaged a 1.3 adults 18-49 rating with 4.10 million viewers over episodes three and four.

Down 35% in the adults 18-49 demographic, “Galavant” fell a whopping 45% in total viewers.

Like last week’s premiere broadcast, the show’s audience declined as the hour progressed. After scoring a 1.3 rating for the 8PM episode, “Galavant” settled for a 1.2 at 8:30PM.

ABC’s other Sunday programming: “America’s Funniest Home Videos” (1.1, 5.98 million), “Resurrection” (0.8, 3.07 million), “Revenge” (0.8, 3.65 million).
